Rockin' The Suburbs With DANII

Rising star DANII is quickly backing up her last release with new track 'Slow Burn', showcasing her extraordinary talent and artistic vision. Featuring a powerful chorus and meticulously stacked vocals that create an immersive and emotionally charged atmosphere. DANII infuses her performance with awe-inspiring raw emotion and sincerity, setting her apart as a dynamic and gifted artist. We chat with DANII about a few of her favorite Brisbane things!

Originally from Melbourne, what was the first thing you fell in love with about Brisbane?

"I was born in Melbourne but moved up to Brissy when I was 4 years old when my family relocated for work. I fell in love with the life I created and the friends I made up here! And you cannot beat the weather - sorry Melbs but 4 seasons in one day is NOT the vibe!"

The question that divides Brisbane… Northside or Southside?

"Southside baby! Although I live in the city now so maybe it's neither..."

Who are some of your favourite local bands/artists at the moment?

"WALTA and Cloe Terrare are some of my fave artists that are absolutely killing the game atm. They keep releasing hits and I keep dancing."

You have a night off to go and see live music in Brisbane. Which music venue are you going to first?

"It's Still a Secret is a great little intimate venue. And Black Blear Lodge is a fail-proof venue for a party and a good boogie."

Time to give some local businesses some love. What are your go-to restaurants and bars?

"For a full day and night out in Brisbane, I would start with the Shakshuka at Naim in Paddington for brunch. Stopping in at Brooki for a Biscoff cookie - yum! Then for dinner head to Funny Funny in the City for hotpot. Ending the night at Death and Taxes for a cheeky drink or two."

Do you have a favourite cafe?

"My current go-to is Dicki's in New Farm. The almond chai's are so yummy!"

If you could play a show with two local acts, who would they be and why?

"The Weeknd is coming in November. Does he count as local?! hehe! I would love to open for Mallrat. Who wouldn't! And Saint Barae because he is another artist that just knows what he is doing, is unapologetically himself and I completely vibe with that."

You’re playing at Black Bear Lodge on September 10 with Sarah Yagki, what can we expect from your live show?

"Get ready to dance your ass off! I'm bringing a whole show full of brand new and unreleased new music "

From photographers to visual artists, videographers or booking agents, do you have any Brisbane creatives that you’d like to give a shout-out to? "I want to shout out to my videographer Jordan!"
