Ahead of the release of his new EP 'Loners Club' out July 7, multi-disciplinary artist and producer Stevan has today shared the dreamy title track from the collection.
“Loners Club is all about being on my own and figuring out what I want again. A lot has happened since I started in 2019. After a while music felt like Groundhog Day. This is my take on what’s being going on.” says Stevan of the track.
Tomorrow Saturday 17 June, Stevan will perform a free pop-up performance and meet n greet at Retro Groove in his hometown of Wollongong. The free all ages event will happen from 11am – 12:30pm and will see him performing a stripped back set, along with a pop-up merch store.
With 'Loners Club', Stevan is ready for the stage once more with nothing to prove to anyone except himself. This sonic shift embodies the challenge Stevan set himself as he moves away from his more formative influences and into a space in which he can stand on his own in his own lane, the place he is most comfortable, and innovate and push himself. Happiest when he is doing his own thing on his own terms, Stevan now emerges triumphant in his next iteration with 'Loners Club', representing the irony that an artist with the world at his feet still feels like he still doesn’t quite fit in.
Rejecting this as a negative, Stevan instead found power in embracing this – 'Loners Club' is a clarion call for misfits, oddballs, and rejects everywhere: “I know the people who fit into those categories will relate to me most.”
Globally acclaimed with over 10 million streams across his catalogue, Stevan has toured with The Rubens, Winston Surfshirt, and Omar Apollo, performed at Splendour in The Grass and Bigsound, and played the Hermes Fit launch at the iconic Hordern Pavilion. He’s collaborated with Cosmo’s Midnight and Budjerah, has been working in the studio recently with Peking Duk and Kwame, and has received praise from BBC Radio 1 and Billboard as well as significant Australian music media.
