Fresh from selling out famed London venue O2 Academy Brixton in an hour, Maisie Peters releases pop-rock throwback “Blonde”, the first of two new track drops. Emotional ballad “Good Enough” will follow on August 19th.
This track is a bop. From the opening line, I'll fuck your life up as a blonde, you know Peters is on a mission. Like a biblical Samson in reverse, a hair cut and a bottle of bleach release the rage and super powers of this brunette turned blonde. Snippets of the song were release on TikTok along with this warning, "im coming for blood with this one." Peter's sounds like a woman who is about to kick some serious arse.
On “Blonde” Maisie shares: “‘Blonde’ is a song about confidence, self-worth and standing behind yourself, and although dying your hair isn’t necessarily the grandest thing anyone has ever done, it represents turning a new leaf in how you see yourself, for the better. Plus, it’s true, blondes do have more fun.”
The production is slick and the vocals are sweet and angelic, belying the anger fuelled lyrics. We can see this one becoming an anthem for women all over the world whether they be blondes, redheads or brunettes.
Currently supporting Ed Sheeran in the UK and Europe on his + - = ÷ x stadium tour, Maisie recently joined a star-studded line-up of guests including Billie Eilish and Sam Smith during the London taping of The Late Late Show with James Corden, delivering an electrifying performance of her viral track, “Cate’s Brother” (watch here).
